Laura Korerner Lara Koerner of Upper St. Clair was one of four members of the Vanderbilt University woman's soccer team to be named the 1998 All-Central Region team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.  The junior forward earned second-team laurels.

    She also earned All-Central Region honors in 1996 and 1997.   The 20 year old daughter of Ken and Audrey Koerner shatter several Commodores records. She tallid 19 goals for a school mark single season high. She also became Vanderbilt's all-time leading point scorer and goal scorer this season.

    Korener was an All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) selection. She helped the Commodores to a No. 11 ranking in the nation and a 17-6 record. They were 6-2 and runners-up in the SEC Eastern Division. They advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth season stright.

    The Upper St. Clair product ranks at  school's leading scorer with 133 goals. She was named Pennsylvania Player of the Year in 1995 and also gained Regional All-America status. Koerner was an instant success when she arrived at Vanderbilt.

    She racked up team highs in every statistical category with 16 goals and 8 assists. She was selected to the first team All-SEC and second team All-Central Region. She duplicated those honors as a sophmore when she tailled 16 goals and had 7 assists. Koerner is a political science major.
